Christmas and New Year closing dates

The last day the University will be open this year is Friday 21 Dec; this includes the Library. The University will reopen on Monday 7 January, 2013. This is a chance for staff and students to have a break from all the hard work of the year, so rest up and make the most of it! Student Visa

The Visa Office at Victoria International is now closed and will reopen on Monday 7th January, 2013. Immigration New Zealand will also be closed over the Christmas and New Year break. Insurance

Please note that as the university will be closed, we will not be checking emails through the holiday period. If you want support for an emergency, refer to the options below.

EMERGENCIES

In case of an emergency over the Christmas and New Year holiday, here are some important contacts:

  • For Police, Fire or Ambulance, dial 111
  • For a medical emergency, either dial  111 for an ambulance, or visit the Wellington Hospital Accident and Emergency, Riddiford Street, Newtown
  • If you need VI support, e.g. you need to go home urgently because of a family crisis or you are in hospital, call the VI Emergency Phone: 027 600 6864. Leave a clear message with your name and Student ID, and a number we can contact you on, and we will return your call as soon as possible.
  • If you are feeling upset and need to talk to someone about what is troubling you, call one of these free confidential  helplines: Samaritans 0800 726 666, LifeLine 0800 543354, or Chinese LifeLine 0800 888 880
